Dave Thomas

Before starting Fast Cat, Thomas has been a health professional for over 20 years in the field of preventive medicine,
orthopedic rehab and sports training. He worked for Pat Croce Sports Therapist and trained a number of professional
athletes in his career.  Since 1992, Thomas has been head running coach of the Leukemia & Lymphoma's Team in
Training program in East Pa and has coached over 1500 runners in marathon training. Thomas also developed and
managed the Team Philly 26.2 program, a very successful training program for the Philadelphia Marathon.  Dave is
certified level 1 USATF coach and is currently the head coach of the Philadelphia University Men's and Women's Cross
Country Program.

A native of Philadelphia, Dave has been running for over 30 years and lettered for Temple University (1975-79) in cross
country and track  while receiving his BS degree in exercise science.    After graduation, Thomas continued to
compete and acheived a best time of 2:28 in the marathon  and was nationally ranked ultra runner. He was the first
American in  number of ultra races of 50 miles or longer in England and South Africa.  Thomas also organized a
number of solo run efforts for charity; one which he ran around the Spectrum arena for 24 hours (115 miles) to raise
money for the Flyer's Wives Charities.  From his work with charity and sports, Thomas started a non profit foundation
called Philadelphia Athletic Charities which
he serves as President. This 501 c 3 company organizes events to donate
money to charity while promoting the benefits of fitness and sports participation.
Mr Thomas founded the company along with Fred Kenney in 2006.
Before starting Fast Cat, he worked in the sports production field as
a race director/producer for over 10 road and cross country races in
the Philadelphia area.  Thomas was also instrumental in creating a
few road races including the Tim Kerr 10k, the Northeast Philly 5
Mile Run, and the Flyers 5k. Besides the management of the races,
he has been involved at all levels from course and Tshirt design to
sponsor recruitment.


Fred Kenney
Co-Founder


Mr. Fred Kenney brings a vast knowledge of experience to Fast
Cat Sports Production in the area of athletics and business.  A 1984
graduate of Temple University with a BS in Physical Education and Health.
While at Temple, he was a member of the cross country and track teams
and continues to run and compete in local races today.  

Kenney, a Philadelphia native, taught physical education at the private
and the public School system in Philadelphia until 2001.  He owned
and managed  the Gym Wagon, a gymnastic school, with his brother Walt
for a number of years.   Recently Kenney has been involved in managing
Victory Camp, a gymnastic camp at the University of Pennsylvania.  

He is a member of the Wissahickon Wanderers and Philadelphia Athletic
Charities Track Club and has been involved in  race management and
timing with the Schuylkill River Loop, Philadelphia Catholic League XC, Haverford College Alumni XC., and the
Northeast Philly 5 Mile Run.



Pat Barrett
Volunteer

Ms. Pat Barrett is accomplished in many areas of running, from a
nationally ranked athlete to many areas of sports promotion.  After
graduating Cum-Laude in Health Education from Glassboro State
(Rowan University), she dedicated a number of post grad years in
becoming a nationally ranked distance runner. Some accomplishments
are;  finishing 4th in the Boston Marathon (1972) , 3x
winner of the Jersey Shore Marathon, and the New Jersey Mile Champion
As a nationally ranked runner, she represented Nike and Saucony Shoe
Co. in a number of races during her athletic career.

Since 1980, Barrett has been involved in the fields of Health and
Fitness Consulting, Organizational Administration, and Public and Enviorment Health Education.  Ms. Barrett has
been involved in sports promotion. Some of her clients have been The Mid Atlantic AAU, Abington Memorial
Hospital Sports Medical Ctr., the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, The Broad Street
Run, and the YM/YWHA Loop Race, and also served as an officer for the Mid Atlantic Road Runners Club.  Ms
Barrett currently will serve Fast Cat Sport Productions as an unpaid volunteer and share her knowledge of race
management/promotion. Pat has served as a volunteer at the Haverford College Alumni XC, Schuylkill River
Loop, Phila Catholic League Open XC, and the NE Philly 5 Mile Run.
Pat served as the Elite Runner co-ordinate
for the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007.
                              Fast Cat Sports Production Event Experience
       
Since 1972 our founders and staff have been involved in the sport of running. You might say it
is in our blood.  We have all been involved as competitors, organizers, support staff, finish line
officials,coaches, medical crew or promoters. Before starting Fast Cat in 2007, Mr Thomas and Mr.
Kenney were involved in the organization and creation of many races in the Philadelphia and South
Jersey area.  Below is a listing of the events they have produced or managed the finish line/timing.

Since 1989, Dave Thomas has been involved with coaching elite as well as many novice runners
and professional athletes individually and for schools and marathon-fund raising organizations. He
confesses he must of helped over 1500 runners reach the starting line for the marathon. He now
brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the organization of the Fast Cat Marathon Travel  
Programs.   Below is a listing of his coaching and organizational experience in the marathon training
and fund raising business.
  • Produced and Physically RAN 127 miles to raise awareness and raise funds for the
    homeless (St Francis Inn) in Philadelphia. Thomas ran a route connecting all 18 Boys
    Catholic  Diocese High Schools.(1989)
  • Produced and Physically RAN 24 Hours Around The Spectrum in 1991 and 1993. Thomas ran
    for 24 hours straight around the Spectrum in Philadelphia raising awareness and raising
    funds for the Flyers Wives Fight For Lives. (He covered 115 and 119 miles)
  • Produce and Physically RAN from Hershey Park Arena to the Spectrum (100 miles) in 1993 to
    raise awareness and funds for the Flyers Wives Fight for Lives.
  • Team Philly 26.2 (2004-2005) Founded the Program which prepared over 40 runners for the
    Philadelphia Marathon in a 20 week training cycle.
  • Head Coach of Team in Training (East Pa.) for the Leukemia & Lymphoma (1992-2007)
    Designed and organized the coaching program which saw over 1400 runners reach the
    marathon starting line under his leadership.  Races in Amsterdam, Dublin, San Diego,
    Anchorage, London, San Francisco, Nashville, Bermuda, Atlantic City, Disney World.
  • Head Coaching Advisor to the Students Run Philly Style Program (2004-present) in
    Philadelphia.
  • Head Coach of the Men and Women's Cross Country Program at Philadelphia University
