TRAINING
Each participant will receive a customized 22 week training schedule prepared by our expert
coaching staff. The programs are matched to all training levels whether you are a novice
marathon runner or you are trying to improve on a past performance. Team Las Vegas
runners will be given the option of training for the Half (13.1 mile) or full marathon (26.2).
You will meet as a team and your coaches twice a week and run on a variety of trails and
focus on improving running form, endurance, flexibility, and all other aspects of preparing you
for race day in December. Runners will also be treated to a few clinics with expert speakers
in the areas of nutrition, race pacing, injuries, massage.
Team practice sessions will take place on 1 weeknight (shorter speed session) and
1 weekend day (longer endurance run).
* We recommend all runners interested in joining Team Las Vegas to be running at least
15-20 miles per week (marathon) or 7-10 miles (half marathon). Start running (or run/walk)
before the first day of training (July 21st) for Team Las Vegas.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Team Las Vegas will be flying non-stop from Philadelphia to Las Vegas on Friday. Once
in Las Vegas, the team will stay at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, host of the race event.
All race activities from the expo, start and finish are very close to our hotel making it very
convenient to you after finishing a half or full marathon!
ACTIVITIES
The team arrives in Las Vegas early Friday evening. Team members should get checked into
the hotel and begin to explore Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino ad the rest of Las Vegas.
On Friday or Saturday, team members will pick up their race numbers and supplies at the
Zappos..com Las Vegas Marathon Expo and have time to explore the Vegas Strip. Saturday
evening the team will carbo -load in style with a full course meal at a local casino restaurant
located at the Mandalay Bay. It should be an exciting evening as you share your pre-race
meal with family and the team members you have been training with for 20 weeks.
Sunday morning (RACE DAY!) all Fast Cat Team Las Vegas Members will meet and run the
down the Vegas Strip as you compete in the Zippo.com Las Vegas Marathon. After an
exciting race day, Team Las Vegas will meet and celebrate with a Champagne Victory Awards
Dinner in the early evening. If you are not too wiped out from the day, you will be free to enjoy
the excitement of the Las Vegas nightlife!
Monday, all participants will receive a day pass to the Spa at Mandalay Bay and a 50 minute
post race day massage. Monday evening, the team continue the race celebration with a
celebration dinner at a local restaurant arranged by the Fast Cat Staff.
The Fast Cat Team will depart Las Vegas in the late morning on Tuesday (Dec. 9) and return
to Philadelphia by the afternoon.
